Add an environment

You manually add a new environment.

If you want to perform a test using a copy of an environment, you must make a backup of this environment and restore it under a different name.

In AFAS Online you cannot add environments yourself; you must submit an incident for this. You can, however, copy an environment.

Note: 

Depending on the speed of your data connection and your system, downloading and adding the environment will take somewhere between 5 and 60 minutes. It is recommended not to perform any other tasks on your computer during this process, because adding a Profit environment can adversely affect the performance of other tasks and vice versa.

To add a new environment:

1. Make sure that no other tasks are being performed on the system at the time when you want to add a new environment.
2. Go to: General / Environment / Management / New.

   

3. Enter the name of the environment in Environment name:. This name cannot exceed 8 positions and the first position must be a letter. You can select the correct environment based on the environment name. The name of the open environment is displayed on the top information bar.

   You decide the name yourself for a local installation. These are structured as follows in AFAS Online:

   O (for Online) + participant number (= subscription number) + AA sequence number.

   Example: AFAS Online

   Subscription: 12345.

   Name of the first environment: O12345AA

   Name of the second environment: O12345AB

   Etc.

4. Enter your company name as the description or enter a clear description of the purpose of the environment.
5. Then indicate which template you want to use to populate the new environment. You now have the following options:
   • Default: select this option if you want to create a default environment. In a default environment, you have the most extensive options in Profit at your disposal.
   • Predefined sets: select this option if you want to create an environment based on an environment added previously with a certain default configuration.
   • Small Business: select this option if you want to create an environment for the Small Business package. This option is only available if the Small Business module is included in the licence.
6. Select the template you want to base the environment on. Your options include:
   • Demo omgeving ERP
   • Standaard omgeving ERP
   • Standaard omgeving Onderwijs
   • Standaard omgeving Zorg en welzijn
   • Standaard omgeving ERP België
7. The Profit SQL server field displays the Profit SQL Server (the Profit database). By default, this is the PROFITSQLEXP' instance with the computer name in brackets.
8. Click on: Next.
9. Check the summary.
10. Click on: Finish. 

Click on: OK. When opening the environment for the first time, you must complete the General data wizard and the Financial data wizard.
