Examples of feature group operation

In this example you are going to define feature groups to start different workflows, based on three different dossier item types (Complaint, Tip and Note) and features at three levels (Department, Kind, Type).

You don’t have to use all features in a feature group or to start a workflow. You can also add feature groups to only permit certain combinations when entering a dossier item.

The diagrams below give examples of six feature groups that can start five different workflows.

Examples of feature groups that start a workflow:

The following diagram shows which feature groups start a certain workflow. This example shows the following workflows:

  • Emp. complaint: This workflow offers the dossier item, using the workflow, to the person responsible for the selected employee. Two different feature groups can start this workflow (Consultancy / Complaint / Employee and Sales / Complaint / Employee).
  • complaint: using this workflow, the dossier item goes to the organisation’s management.
  • tipSalesEmp.: This workflow is used to enter a tip for the sales department. At level 3 (Type) you select employee, for instance because a different workflow is required for interns.
  • tipNewColleague: This workflow starts as soon as an employee puts forward an acquaintance for an open vacancy (for instance, linked to an applicant). The accompanying feature group only uses two of the three levels.
  • accManager: Using this workflow, a dossier item must first be approved by the employee’s manager.

To add a feature group:

In Profit you add the following feature groups:
