Add a subreport

You expand a report using a sub-report.

The following issues are important:

  • In the report, you designate an area for displaying the sub-report.
  • You define a link between the main and sub-report.
  • You position fields in the sub-report and format it. This is very similar to creating a regular report, including dividing the sub-report into sections.

To add a sub-report:

  1. Open the report:.
  2. Click on:.

The cursor changes into a little cross.

  3. Drag a rectangle at the position where you want to add the sub-report. You can adjust the size later on.

  4. Click on: Yes. Profit must first save the report before you can continue.
  5. Select the data collection for the sub-report.
  6. Click on: Next.
  7. Select the field link between the main and sub-report. This step is crucial. If the field link is incorrect, the sub-report will not contain the correct data when you open it.

In this example you see the link based on the debtor number.

    Note:

In order to establish the link, the correct fields have to be present in the data collection of both the main and the sub-report. For a new sub-report, this will usually not be the case and you cannot directly record the correct link.

In this situation, continue with the wizard to add the sub-report. Then expand the data collection of the sub-report by adding the required fields. After that, you can change the link between the main and sub-report.

  8. Click on: Next.
  9. Change the name of the sub-report.

  10. Click on: Finish.

At the bottom of the layout, an extra tab is available for maintaining the sub-report.

To change the link with the sub-report:

  1. Right-click on the tab for the sub-report.
