Configure periodic allocation tables for budgeting

You use periodic allocation tables to distribute an annual budget over periods. A periodic allocation table contains the distribution of the annual budget over the periods using period percentages.

When budgeting a ledger account, for example, you enter the annual budget and the period allocation. Profit will then distribute the annual budget automatically over the periods using the period percentages from this table.

Profit is delivered with a default periodic allocation table, Proportional distribution. This period table has period percentages of 8,33 % per period.

In addition to a Proportional distribution, you can add an Index distribution. If you add this kind of periodic allocation table, you enter the indices using the periodic allocation table properties. When a new budget is added, the annual budget is distributed over the periods using the indices you entered.

Finally, you can also select Percentage. In this case, 100% is assigned to the first period and you then distribute this percentage over the various periods yourself.

To check the default periodic allocation table:

In this example you check the periodic allocation table Proportional distribution.

  1. Go to: General / Configuration / Period settings / Periodic allocation table.
  2. Open the properties of the period table Proportional distribution.
  3. Go to the tab: Period percentage.
  4. Check the data.
  5. For each period you see a percentage, an index figure and a combination of the two. By selecting a period and retrieving its properties, you can change the period percentages/indices (if you did not choose an even distribution). Profit always checks for a total of 100% or 1200 in the case of indices per month.
