Manually determine the manager of an organisational unit

You can add a manager to the organisation chart for the purpose of routing alerts. If you determine the manager automatically, you cannot add a manager.

All employees of an organisational unit are below the executive of the organisational unit in question, or below his substitute. This information also is included in the current data of each employee. For each employee, it is known who his management executive is. This makes it possible, for example, to send alerts to the executive for an employee.

To determine the manager of an organisational unit:

  1. Go to: HR / Organisation / Organisation chart.
  2. Open the organisation chart.

    Profit shows a tree structure for the organisation chart.

    The number next to the organisational unit indicates the layer. In the example is on layer 3 and the holding on layer 0.

  3. Click on: to view the organisational unit types.

    On the right, you now see which layers are present.

  4. Click on: to display the unlinked available organisational units you have added on the right.
  5. You expand the entire structure using and collapse the structure using .
  6. You consult employees in the tree structure using the button .

    Note:

    The employees are always on layer 9 in the organisation chart. All managers are on the higher layers (0, 1, 2 and 3). This distinction is especially relevant for the filter authorisation.

  7. Right-click an organisational unit.
  8. Click on: Properties.
  9. Go to the tab: Manager.
  10. If you have not specified that the manager is determined automatically you can now use New to add a manager.
    1. Click on: New.
    2. Select the manager.
    3. Enter a percentage in % Managerial. This indicates to what degree the manager, on his own or together with others, manages the organisational unit.
    4. If applicable, select a substitute for the manager.
    5. Select the Management executive check box if the manager is the executive.

      An organisational unit can have multiple managers, but you always assign one executive.

    6. Click on: Finish.

    Note: 

    The current table is only updated with the management executive when the organisation chart is saved once again or when you perform the Refresh current details action.
