Set up the menu presentation

You can present the menu of your site in different ways. You do this by selecting one of the menu variants.

The different types of menus can present up to three levels.

Hover

In the following procedures you will encounter the word hover. To hover means to place your mouse cursor over a piece of text, a hyperlink or an image. In some cases additional information, also known as a tool tips, are displayed when hovering. Text with additional information when hovering, typically has a different colour or can be identified in another way (e.g. underlined).

Description

All types of menus can present up to three levels. Any extra levels are not displayed. You can create four levels so you can include context in the banner.

Changes to the layout of the site are effective immediately. For this reason we advise you to make any major changes (such as a completely different menu) to a site that is not live, or during hours that the site attracts few visitors. You can always set the site to 'under construction' so that the changes are only visible to site managers.

You can choose from the following menu types (click on the menu type you want to use in the site for the correct procedure):

Mouseover functionality

Different presentation styles use the mouseover functionality. This means that underlying menu items appear when the mouse is positioned on the upper item; examples include the styles 'Expand at the top in parts' and 'Top, two levels to the left'. Not all phones and tablets support this functionality (only seems to be a problem on Android). This is a limitation of the phones/tablets, and is unrelated to InSite and OutSite.
