Checks for error messages in the workflow

When managing a workflow, errors and warnings (or other messages) may appear.

These messages are visible in the workflow but do not interrupt your work. If you want to publish the workflow, but there are still messages, you get a 'blocking' notification. You must resolve this first.

Example:

If you add a task, you are required to indicate the person for whom the task is intended. You do not have to do this immediately. For instance, you can add another task first. The message that you still need to complete the Addressed to field for the task remains in the Messages frame.

A suggestion for a resolution is also displayed with the message.

The system runs some checks, including:

  • Mandatory fields

All mandatory fields for a task or action must be completed.

  • Transferred directly

You receive a message if you specify that the task for an action should be immediately transferred but then you do not select the Delegate task check box for the task.

You resolve this by deselecting the 'Direct transfer' check box for the action or selecting the 'Transfer task' check box for the task.

  • Intended for

For a task, the 'Addressed to' field is empty. As long as this is the case for a task, you cannot publish the workflow.

You resolve this by selecting at least one line in 'Addressed to'.

  • Tasks without actions

Every task must have at least one action before you can publish the workflow.
