Settlement of consecutive employments

You can then force a settlement using the Settle at employment end field. This field is only available in this situation in the contract properties (Employment tab) of the first employment. For new employments, this check box is selected by default.

Example:

An employee has the following employments:

  • Employment 1: Ends on 31 January 2010
  • Employment 2: Starts on 1 February 2010

You can change the 'Settle at end of employment' check box in the properties of the first employment.

If you select the Settle at employment end check box, you force Profit to settle the employment. Profit then calculates the holiday allowance and a thirteenth month if applicable, among other things. Furthermore, an ‘initial period calculation’ will be performed for the new employment.

Profit by default selects the Settle at employment end check box in a new additional employment. This causes previous additional employments that end to always be settled, even if the check box in these previous additional employments has not been selected. This means that a deferred payment is not possible because the settlement is part of the relevant employment. This is also important for the wage declaration, journalising and allocation (OU, position, cost centre, cost unit).

The Settle at employment end setting is not relevant for employees without simultaneous employments. The diagram below illustrates the processing on the basis of this setting:

The situation described above does not occur in the following situations as a result of which the Settle at employment end check box is also not available:

  • There is overlap between the ended employment and the new employment.
  • The ended employment ends in the period in which the new employment starts.
