View parameter changes

The parameter log’s setup differs from the setup of the general log. The general log generates a separate line for each entry, while the parameter log for each parameter displays the changes you entered at a certain point in time. This means that a single line can contain multiple changes.

When you create a new line with a new start date for an existing parameter, two lines are created in the parameter log. One line in which the old value is terminated and one line in which the new value is entered.

Example:

An employee is entitled to a higher travel expense allowance effective 1 February 2011. You add a new line to the parameter for this employee with start date 1 February 2011. Profit automatically ends the old line on 31 January 2011. The log now contains two logging lines; one for the termination of the old value and one with the start date of the new value.

To view the parameter log:

  1. Go to: HR / Management / Parameter log / Entry overview.

The entries at the CLA, employer and employee levels are displayed. This allows you to quickly find the cause of the inexplicable correction in the salary processing.

  2. The meaning of most columns is self-evident; various elements are explained below:
    • Parameter

Profit displays the parameter’s number. This is the internal number of the wage component + the parameter’s sequence number.

    • Entry

This is a sequence number that Profit assigns to the entry. You cannot change them.

    • CLA, Employer and Employee

The relevant code and description are displayed depending on the level at which the parameter is changed.

    • Entry date

The date on which the entry was actually made. If you want to see the entries for a single day, then you filter by [Date of the day you wish to see]..[Date of the following day].

    Example:

Suppose you would like to see the entries made on 6-11-2011. You would then enter the following in the quick filter: 6-11-2011..7-11-2011

Profit now displays the entries made on 6-11-2011.

    • User

The code of the Profit user who made the change. If a value was not changed using Profit, then the name of the Windows user is logged. This is the case for a change made using the UpdateConnector.

    • Start and end date

Profit displays the old and new dates when the start and end dates of a parameter line are changed. When a new parameter line is added, only the new start and end dates are displayed.

    • Value and Code table

When you directly add a value to a parameter (for example an amount), Profit will log this. If you change a code in a code table (for example, a Yes/No field), the old code and the description and the new code and description are displayed.
