Make and restore backups (Command Line Utility)
This section covers creating and restoring backups via the Command Line Utility.
Make sure that you make a backup every day. This is only required if you have a local Profit installation. If you use AFAS Online, AFAS takes care of creating the backups.
Procedure
- Record the backup location
You can specify the file location where Profit saves a backup.
- Backup guidelines per authentication method
There are various ways to use the BACKUP action. This depends on the authentication method you are using and whether you want to create backups of one or all the environments.
- Create a backup
You can have backups generated (automatically) using the BACKUP action in the Command Line Utility.
- Automatically rename a backup (build history)
The following script ensures that the backup you created is renamed nine times before it is deleted.
- Restore a backup
To restore a backup via the command line utility, you must use the command RESTORE.
- Split backup of files and database
In the case of very large environments, you can create separate backups of the SQL database and other Profit files. This substantially speeds up the process of making a backup.
