Schedule tasks
You plan tasks to be executed per environment. For each recurring task, you specify on which days, and at what time, it must be performed. Profit determines on which date the task is first run. For one-off tasks, you must specify a date and a time.
Note:
Each day, run the task Refresh current details first, for instance at 00.01 am. Do this because the other tasks require up-to-date information.
There is no check for dependency between tasks, so you need to make sure that the Refresh current details task is run first and that it is completed before other tasks start. In the Scheduled tasks view, you can see whether certain tasks started before the Refresh current details task was completed.
To schedule tasks:
- Go to: General / Management / Task scheduler.
- Click on: New.
- Select the task type.
- Click on: Next.
- Record additional information about the task. See the overview of the task types.
For example, for a task for running an analysis you select the analysis and the administration. For a salary processing run, you select the processing group.
Some task types don't need additional information, so then this step is skipped.
- Click on: Next.
- To determine when the task needs to be carried out:
- Recurring task
Select the Recurring task check box. You enter the time and select the check boxes for the required days. The task will be scheduled from the next day that it needs to be run.
You can run a task once a day. Should it be necessary to carry out a task more than once a day, then you need to add extra tasks at different times.
- One-off task
Do not select the Recurring task check box. You enter the time and the required date.
The task will be carried out on the date and time in question; after that the task will be blocked.
- Recurring task
- Click on: Finish.
