Add a sorting
You can sort generated letters by name and postal code, for instance. You specify the required sorting in the document layout, not while generating the document. You can only record a sorting based on the fields of the main data collection. For subdocuments, you can specify a separate sorting.
To add a sorting:
- Open the document.
- Add the field that you want to sort by.
Example:
You have added the address example to a letter, meaning that Profit includes the address data as one contiguous block. However, you want to sort by Postal code and House number. These fields as such have not yet been added to the data collection. After you have done that, you can sort by these fields.
- Go to: the required data collection and click on Sorting.
- Click on: Add.
- Double-click on the field.
- You can set whether Profit sorts each field ascending or descending.
- If you have added multiple fields, Profit first sorts on the top field and then on the subsequent fields. Where needed, use the arrow keys to put the fields in the correct order.
Example:
You want to sort by Postal code and House number. Add this sorting as shown in the image:
