Add custom field - field types

It is crucial to choose the correct field type, because this determines what you can record in the database. After you add a custom field, you can no longer change the field type. For the custom fields for which you can specify a field length, it is not possible to change the field length after adding them. If this is required anyway, add a new custom field.

Text

Field for a text consisting of one line, such as a description.

Memo

Field for a long text that can consist of multiple lines.

Go to properties in a memo field to specify how many lines to display to the user (this only applies to property fields, not to entry lines in entry layouts).

Date

Field for a date.

Date/time

Field for a date and a time, for example 20-12-2014, 14:00.

Time

Field for a time, for example 14:00.

Numerical

Field for an integer.

Decimal

Field for a decimal number. You can specify the number of positions for integers and the number of decimal places.

Yes/No

Check box.

Duration

Field for a time frame, for example 2:30 hours (=2 hours and 30 minutes).

E-mail

Field for an e-mail address.

An e-mail button is located next to the field, which the user can use to sendan e-mail message immediately.

Web address

Field for a web address, for example www.afas.nl.

A button is located next to the field, which the user can use to immediately start his browser and go to the website.

Phone no.

Field for a telephone number.

A button is located next to the field, which the user can use to telephone immediately. To make a call immediately, the VOIP configuration must also have been completed.

Table link

A field for selecting a value from a custom table. Link the custom table to this field in Link to tables.

File link

A field for selecting a value from a Profit table.

Link the custom table to this field in Link to files.

(For a workflow based on a custom role, link the custom field to the User or User group file. The custom field is then automatically made available in the workflow task in Workflow management).
