Backup guidelines for each authentication method

There are various ways to use the BACKUP action. This depends on the authentication method you are using and whether you want to create backups of one or all the environments.

Below are the guidelines for creating backups in the simplest manner using the command line. The headers show the desired situations with the procedure below them.

Note:

If you have a client/server installation, you can only perform this function on the server. In a stand-alone installation you perform the function on the PC. The backup of an environment is saved in a zip file. The zip file is placed in the backup folder, which you set yourself.

Windows authentication

Please also refer to the description of the authentication methods.

Windows authentication, create backup of a single environment using BACKUP:

  1. Add the user to the environment and select the Backup copies from command line check box.
  2. Add the same user to Windows.
  3. Have this user start the task (Scheduled task).
  4. Enter /O"environment" in the BACKUP command line.

Windows authentication, create backup of all the environments using BACKUP:

  1. Check who is the administrator of Profit.
  2. Have Scheduled task run under this user (who already exists in Windows, otherwise you would not be able to log on to Profit as administrator).
  3. Use the /A option in the command line.

Application authentication, create backup of a single environment using BACKUP:

  1. Add the user to the environment and select the Backup copies from command line check box.

    This user must always have a strong password, even if you are not using this functionality.

  2. Enter the user and the password in the command line, plus /O"environment".

    Example: 

    "C:\Program files (x86)\Profit\AFAS Windows\Kernel\Bin\AFASCMD.EXE" /G"Gebruiker" /W"wachtwoord" BACKUP /O"omgeving"

Application authentication, create backup of all the environments using BACKUP:

  1. Check who is the administrator of Profit.
  2. Enter the user and the password in the command line, plus the /A option.

    Example: 

    "C:\Program files (x86)\Profit\AFAS Windows\Kernel\Bin\AFASCMD.EXE" /G"ProfitBeheerder" /W"wachtwoord" BACKUP /A
