Generate budgets based on multiple scenarios

The generation of budgets on the basis of modified or original budgets is done somewhat differently when budget scenarios are used. Any budgets you generate with budget scenarios can also be included in scenarios other than the opened budget scenario.

Example:

You can create one or more new budget scenarios based on an existing scenario. For a new financial year, you can create mutual differences between these scenarios compared with the starting scenario.

For example, you add a scenario in which you expect that business costs will increase by a particular percentage and that turnover will decrease (shrink scenario) and you add another scenario in which the opposite occurs (growth scenario). In addition to these, many other variants are possible, such as a neutral scenario. Furthermore, you can still make use of the possibilities afforded by allocations.

To generate budgets based on multiple scenarios:

  1. Add the scenarios you require.
  2. To generate the budgets you require for each scenario you want to use:
    1. Open the krimpscenario.
    2. Enter the next year for which the budgets apply.
    3. Select the general ledger series with the cost accounts and, if required, the allocation axis. Budgets must be allowed both for the allocation axis and for the general ledger accounts.
    4. Link a positive percentage to them.
    5. In Budget is based on, specify whether you want to use the original or the modified budget.
    6. Select the source scenario from where Profit must obtain the budget amounts. The source scenario must contain these budgets.
    7. For this source scenario, enter the year on which the budgets are based.
    8. Click on: Next.

      Profit displays the result.

    9. Click on: Finish.
  3. Repeat steps a. to i. for the same scenario, but this time with the turnover accounts and a negative percentage (minus sign before the number).
  4. For the remaining scenarios, repeat steps a. to i. For example, you could create a scenario that is the opposite to that described above or you could create a neutral variant.
