Default menu path for a page

It may be the case that a page occurs in the site structure multiple times because you are displaying it in several places in order to access it from different places. You decide where to place the page in the menu. If you use a page several times, then, to build the crumb trail, you must indicate which menu item you want to use as the default position for the page.

If a menu item is linked to a page, you can open the page by clicking the menu item in the crumb trail.

Apply context

If in the properties of the page you deselect the Apply context check box, no context at all will be applied. In that case, the context sensitive data/zones (such as Directly to) on the right and left side are not shown. Only the contents of the page are shown, without any context. Therefore, the related references you include in the page properties are not displayed either.

If you select Apply context, the context will be examined of the parent pages in accordance with the menu structure/crumb path. Once this is selected the related references from the parent pages are shown. The duplicate values are filtered out here. The Default menu item field plays an important role here. This is because you can include a page in a menu multiple times. However, you can only select this field once per page. The context is determined based on the page for which this check box is selected.

The context starts on the page itself, Profit then looks for the default menu item and from there, Profit look upwards in the site/menu structure.
