Update overviews

If you add a new page, the overviews and banners that refer to this new page are not yet updated. Visitors then see the special page Page not found. After updating and publishing the page, the new page can be accessed from the overview and/or banner.

You update overviews so that new pages are updated on the web server. Only the overviews of page types of the type CMS or  CMS + Data are updated because they will be published.

If you add a news item, you can display it on multiple overviews and banners. If you publish the news item, only the page with the actual news item itself is published and not the overviews and banners. To supplement the overviews and banners with new news items, you update the overviews. You can start this function manually or automatically using a batch file.

In a diagram, this looks as follows:

To update overviews from Profit:

  1. Open Profit.
  2. Go to: General / In & OutSite / Update / Update overviews.

Updating overviews takes a while. That is because the Profit Update Service first checks if the site needs to be updated, then it collects the data and finally updates the site. In the Site (Management) view you can check the status of the publication.

  3. Go to: General / In & OutSite / Site.

Wait until the Published in full status is displayed for the site. Use F5 to refresh the data in this window.

Wait a minute and then return to the site.

To update overviews from the command line:

You use the Command Line Utility to perform certain tasks automatically, usually based on a pre-determined schedule. From the command line you can also update the overviews to the web server.

You can also schedule this option via Profit. In that case you do not have to configure the command line.
