Perform the stocktaking using a barcode scanner

You can do stocktaking with a barcode scanner instead of entering the quantities on the printout manually.

If you want to take stock using the barcode scanner, then you must configure this first.

Note:

As yet the scanner does not work in combination with dimension articles, batch entry articles and 'length x width' articles.

The stocktaking process using the barcode scanner works more or less in the usual way. The only difference is that after you have added the stocktaking, you prepare it for the scanner. You can then assign users (warehouse employees) to the stocktaking run.

Note:

The warehouse employee should preferably complete the whole scan session before exiting. It is not yet possible to interrupt the stocktaking session on the barcode scanner and to only a send a part back to Profit. The scanned part of the stocktaking list is uploaded to Profit on exit but the other lines cannot be sent to the scanner again. If necessary you can delete the lines for which stocktaking was not done from the uploaded stocktaking and then add these to a new stocktaking.

To perform stocktaking using a barcode scanner:

  1. Go to: Order Management / Stock / Stocktaking.
  2. Add stocktaking in the usual way.
  3. Assign the stocktaking.

The scan status of the stocktaking is now To be scanned.

  4. Select the new stocktaking or multiple stocktaking runs (CTRL+S).
  5. Click on the action: Prepare for scanning.

    A message is displayed.

  6. Click on: Yes

The scan status of the stocktaking is now Prepared for scanning.

  7. If necessary, select the stocktaking again.
  8. Click on the action: Allocate stocktaking to assign a user to stocktaking.
  9. Select the user.
  10. Click on:  Finish.

The user, who is also a warehouse employee, can now perform the stocktaking on his barcode scanner. This will download the stocktaking list from Profit. He can then take stock line by line. Consult the barcode scanner Help (from Actemium) to find out exactly how this works.

The stocktaking is blocked in Profit until the employee has completed the stocktaking. The scan status of the stocktaking is now Scanning. You can view the stocktaking run after you have unblocked it.

When the warehouse employee has 'completed' the stocktaking using the barcode scanner, he closes the stocktaking and sends the data back to Profit.

The scan status in Profit is then shown as Fully scanned.

  11. Verify and approve the lines in the usual way. You can also check for any errors in the stocktaking.
