Configure a composite leave type

A composite leave type has other leave types linked to it. In case of a leave request, Profit automatically determines from which linked type the leave should be written off.

You can, for example, use this for holidays to which you link the statutory and non-statutory leave types. The advantage of composite leave is that the employee does not have to determine which leave type should be entered.

You link the basic leave types that you have already added in a composite Leave type. Next, set the prioritisation. Assign the lowest priority to the composite leave type.

Example: configuration

Add the composite leave type Vakantie and link Wettelijk verlof komend jaar and Bovenwettelijk verlof komend jaar to it. If you already use leave and there are existing leave types for which there is still an open balance (for example, Non-statutory leave for precious year, etc.), you also link these to the new composite leave type Vakantie.

A composite leave type can be entered in both InSite and Profit Windows.

The leave types linked to a composite leave type cannot be entered individually any more in InSite. You can only separately enter leave for the linked leave types in Profit Windows. That means it is important that the priority of the separate leave types is higher than the priority of the composite leave types. In case of a combination of parental leave and composite leave of the Vakantie type, the leave is first written off from the parental leave and then from the Holiday leave.

Note:

Leave types where a limit is not included based on a negative balance in the leave type cannot be linked. This could in the end cause a bottomless pit. Change the leave type for the leave type you want to link.

Unpaid leave cannot be linked either.

To add the composite Holiday leave type:

  1. Go to: HR / Management / Configuration / Leave type.

If you cannot see this functionality you must first configure the authorisation.

  2. First add the individual leave types you want to link. For example Wettelijk volgend jaar and Bovenwettelijk volgend jaar:
  3. Click on: New.
  4. Enter the code.
  5. Enter the description. For example, Vakantie.
  6. Select the Composite leave check box.
  7. Click on: Next.

You will see that the composite leave type has the lowest priority. That means leave is first written off from the leave types with a higher priority.

  8. Click on: Finish.

To link basic leave types to a composite leave type:

  1. Open the properties of the composite leave type.
  2. Go to the tab: Linked leave type.
  3. Click on: New.

You see the leave types that have not yet been linked.

  4. Select the check boxes for the statutory and non-statutory leave types for holidays just added.
  5. Click on: Finish.

The composite leave now also includes the new leave type for the statutory and non-statutory leave.

  6. Add the leave type for the composite leave type.
