Entry window

Entry windows are used to make entries (entry lines). For example:

  • Financial entries
  • Invoices
  • Sales orders
  • Actual costing lines
  • Periodic wage entries

Most important for an entry window is that it enables you to record entry lines quickly. Sometimes you can record extra data that applies to all entry lines in the entry window.

Each entry window has been fully tailored to the specific process you are using. This is why entry windows for different functions (or even different journals) may differ.

Description

The layout of an entry window is always based on a specific entry layout. Often, during the configuration of a window, it has already been linked to the journal, so while making entries you are automatically presented with the correct entry layout.

Example:

The following entry layouts are available for the sales journal (in Financial):

  • Financial entries (Sales entry currency) (Profit)
  • Financial entries (Sales entry) (Profit)

You can link the 'Financial entries (Sales entry) (Profit)' entry layout by going to the sales journal properties. This ensures the entry layout will appear by default when making an entry in the sales journal.

If the entry layout has not been linked in the configuration, the user will have to first select the desired layout before making an entry.

The entry layout usually contains a header line and entry lines. The header line often contains a year and period while the entry lines contain the actual entries. The footer contains detailed information for the selected entry line. Below is an example of a sales order entry window:

Changes in sorting order, column colour, etc. are saved in your personal settings.
