Add a budget
With Profit, you can budget in two ways: manually (bottom-up) and automatically (top-down).

With the bottom-up method, you budget manually per ledger account, if required allocating across multiple allocation axes and codes (assignments).
With the bottom-up approach you can allocate in a more detailed way by making use of allocation codes (for example, an individual amount for each department) separately per allocation axis. This is especially important if you are setting up the budgets for the first time. It allows you to create a basis for future budgets. If you generate a new budget (top-down method) on the basis of a manually entered budget, Profit copies the allocations from the manual budget to the generated budget. In this way, the continuity of the allocation over the years is guaranteed.
