Add a VAT rate group
For each country, you can record date-independent VAT rate groups. For instance: 'High' and 'Low' for the Netherlands.
Some goods and services are exempt from VAT. In these cases you can indicate, in the rate group, that a Zero rate applies, which is always calculated at 0%.
You record rate groups by country. The Netherlands has the rates High and low, but in Belgium there is also a Middle rate. In Luxembourg they even have two Middle rates. The VAT rate groups for the Benelux countries, the Netherlands Antilles, Great Britain and Germany are provided as defaults. If necessary, for example for other countries, you can add or change VAT rate groups.
You can also import VAT rate groups.
To add VAT rate groups:
- Go to: Financial / VAT/ICP / Configuration / VAT rate group.
Click on: New.
- In Legislative country, select the country that the rate group belongs to.
- Enter the code for the VAT rate group, such as 0, 1, 2 or 3.
- Enter a Description so you can recognise the rate group, such as High.
- Only select the Zero rate check box in the case of a zero rate. You can add one zero rate for each country.
- If applicable, in Column in VAT total line, enter the column number of the VAT total.
The field is only of interest if you want to split out the VAT amounts for different VAT rate groups into different columns when printing a sales invoice because, for instance, you use pre-printed paper. You use Column in VAT total line to specify the column (box) in which the VAT amount for this rate group will appear on the sales invoice. You also need to adjust the report for the sales invoice.
Per country, only one rate group can be assigned to a VAT totals column, with the exception of column 9 (Other). By default, Profit uses column 9 (Other) for a new VAT rate group.
- Enter the Start date of the VAT rate.
- In Rate, enter the percentage of the VAT rate.
- Click on: Finish.
