Delete entries
You can delete journal entries in Profit. If you delete a journal entry, you delete the entire journal entry.
You can also delete or change one entry line.

Delete entries
When you delete an entry, Profit checks if the journal entry is based on another transaction such as transactions concerning purchasing, sales or projects. These journal entries can generally not be deleted.
To delete entries using the Financial Entries view:
- Go to:
- Financial / Ledger / Financial changes.
- Financial / Ledger / Ledger account
- Financial / Ledger / Journal
- Financial / Debtor / Debtor
- Financial / Creditor / Creditor
- Open the properties of the debtor, creditor or ledger account.
- Go to the tab: Entries.
- Select the entries that you want to delete:
- If you want to delete one entry, then select it directly.
- If you want to delete multiple entries then open the selection column by pressing Ctrl+S. Now select the check boxes of the entries that you want to delete.
- Click on the action: Delete journal entry.
- Confirm that you want to delete the journal entry.
Reset a journal (delete without checking)
If you use this method, Profit deletes the entries without first checking for linked transactions. This means that, for example, you can delete sales entries without deleting the underlying transactions. This functionality is mainly intended for clearing (if applicable, setting to zero) financial journals. You can also use this functionality to delete entries you have recorded by mistake.
Note:
Using this function, you may delete financial entries while there are still entries present in other components of Profit. To prevent unauthorised use (= by mistake), you can disable this functionality via the action authorisation.
To delete entries using the Zeroise Journal action (delete without checking):
- Go to: Financial / Ledger / Journal.
- Go to the tab: Entries.
- Only select the entries you really want to delete.
- Click on the action: Reset journal.
