Configure composite leave with a negative leave balance
Some organisations actually work with negative leave balances. The idea behind composite leave is that the separate leave types are depleted first and always end at 0. If you allow a negative leave balance with regard to the leave types, the leave types will result in negative balances while all other applicable leave types within the composite leave will continue to be positive.
To ensure that first all leave types result in 0 and that any negative balances are monitored afterwards, configure the following:
- Add leave type Negatief verlof and assign it the lowest priority.
- Add this leave type to the composite leave.
- Add a leave type in the term of employment based on the Negatief verlofsaldo leave type and the Leave basic leave type. Enter 0 as the periodical entitlement. You specify that a negative leave balance is allowed with a limit to be set by the employee.
If an employee now enters leave on the composite leave type, the separate leave types are always used first. If no balance is left, the leave is entered on the Negatief verlofsaldo leave type.
This ensures you have insight into the negative balance and, subsequently, you can have the employee buy it through a leave balance correction at the end of the year.
