Assembled item with a lot number

You can create lot numbers for the assembled articles. Please note that both the assembled item and the parts can have a lot number.

Purchase and enter stock

With purchasing and entry of stock, lot numbers are only applicable for the assembled item because only its stock is tracked.

Sell and write off stock

If you track the stock of the assembled item then you must enter a lot number when you sell or write off the stock of the assembled item.

If you do not track the stock of the assembled item, you must enter a lot number for the parts when you sell and write off the stock of the parts. A check is now made at all levels of the assembled item to see if there is an article that is tracked per lot. The entry screen now displays these articles so that you can enter the lot number and quantity for each article whereby the stock check is immediately performed.

Assembly and disassembly

For assembly and disassembly, you must specify both the lot number of the assembled item and the lot numbers of the parts. For assembly, it is useful to record per assembly line which lots of the parts have been used.

Assembled item with a lot

You can use lots in combination with assembled items. Both the assembled item and the parts can belong to a lot.

Purchase and enter stock

When purchasing and entering stock, lots are only applicable for the assembled item because only its stock is tracked.

Sell and write off stock

If you track the stock of the assembled item then, with the sale and write off of the stock, the lot number is only applicable for the assembled item and not for the parts.

If you do not track the stock of the assembled item then, with the sale and write off of the stock, the lot number is only applicable for the parts and not for the assembled item.

Returns

A lot article can be returned. If so, there are two possibilities:

• The article can no longer be used and should be written off
• The article is useable, possibly after some work, and is returned into stock

For lot articles, you can specify if the article is 'durable', which means that it can be taken back into stock. If this is not the case, the article can be written off directly on return and is thus not re-added into stock. Durable articles are automatically added to the stock and thus become available again.

If articles with lots are received back then it is advisable to record a reason for the return. If a lot is returned because, for example, there has been a complaint about the quality, it is then possible to set a flag whereby it is blocked for use.
