Template
A template is a combination of a Page type, a Data unit and the Behaviour of a page. Default templates come standard in Profit.
Description
A template determines which page parts can be completed. A template is linked to a data collection, so the page can show data from Profit. A document is recorded based on a template. Templates can be very flexible, but also highly standardised. A template ensures that all pages contain a minimum of information, such as a title and the author.
Examples of templates:
- Custom CMS page
- News item
- Web blog/column
- Press release
- Course/Article/Project/... description
A template is available for every functionally required combination of:
- Data type
The data type determines which data can be displayed in a page based on this template. For example, a template can be set up to display course data or to change a news item.
In addition, the data type determines the options the template provides regarding the addition of CMS data. - Data unit
The data unit determines whether the template is set up to work with one data element of the data type or with a data set. For example, a template can be set up to display a set of news items or to create a single news item.
- Behaviour
The behaviour determines the goal of the template. For example, a template can be set up to display, create or adjust a single data element or a data set.
For each page type you add, Profit adds a derived template.
Preparation
- Set up a template
For a template, you can change a number of settings. You cannot add or completely adjust a template.
