Overview of price terminology
In Profit you will find different terms used for prices. Here is an overview of the most important terms with a short description of the meaning.
Sales price/Basic price
You add the sales price to your items/articles. We also refer to the sales price as the Basic price. If there are no valid prices present at a higher level then Profit uses the Sales price. If no sales price has been added either, no price is suggested. In that case, you must enter a price yourself when adding an order or basic order, quotation, packing slip or invoice.
The sales price is per basic unit.
The sales price is automatically added to the basic price list.
Price on price list
You can add prices as well as promotional prices to a price list. The prices on a price list only apply to sales contacts that are linked to the price list. For instance, all your sales contacts from a specific sector.
If no valid prices are present at a higher level, the valid price from the price list is used. The Promotional price list is added at the third level. If no valid prices are present at a higher level, the valid Promotional price from the price list is used.
Sales contact price
You can add prices as well as promotional prices in the sales contact properties. The prices that you add here are prices that you have agreed with the sales contact.
You add the Sales contact promotional price at the highest level. This means that if a valid sales contact promotional price is present, this is the one that is used.
Promotional price
A promotional price is a general promotional price for an article. You therefore do not add these promotional prices to a specific sales contact or to a group of sales contacts (price list). Instead, these apply to all sales contacts. If there is a general promotional price, it applies instead of the basic/sales price.
Promotional prices are prices that you add for a particular period, so they have a start and end date.
You can also use promotional prices for price lists and promotional prices per sales contact. These are also given priority over ordinary prices on the price list, and over the ordinary price for the sales contact.
