Hide/show a field

You can facilitate data entry by making unnecessary fields invisible. This field setting applies in New wizards and property windows.

Note:

You can only change administrator settings if you are authorised to do so.

You can make a field invisible in the properties window where it is displayed. You can make an invisible field visible again using the Management tool.

Example:

You never record the Social security number ('BSN') field for organisations, you therefore make this field invisible.

To make a field invisible:

  1. Open the function that contains the field.
  2. Open the properties of a random line.
  3. Go to the tab containing the field.
  4. Right-click on the Social security number ('BSN') field name.

There are two tabs: The Administrator settings tab that is only available if you are logged on as administrator in Profit or if you are authorised for the tab, and the User settings tab that is available to all users.

  5. Go to the tab: Administrator settings.
  6. Deselect the Visible check box to make the field invisible.
  7. Click on: OK
  8. Click on: Yes. This re-opens the environment.
  9. Return to the function for which you modified the field and check that the field actually is invisible.
