Description

Profit makes a distinction between the basic language and the user language.

User language

The user language is a selection that a user can make for him/herself. You purchase these languages and activate them by importing a new licence. In the licence, this is called Profit Extra taal Nederlands/Belgiƫ, for example.

If you select a different user language, all screen text in Profit appears in this other language. This applies to the following components:

Basic language

The basic language is the language the whole environment is set to. This is usually the same as the official language within the organisation. By default, we deliver Profit in the Dutch language, but you can purchase a different basic language. You make the new language available by importing the new licence. In the licence, this is called Profit Basistaal Frans, for example. If you add an environment, it is always in the basic language. If you purchase a different basic language at a later time, you can convert your environment(s) to this new language.

If you convert to a different basic language, all text in Profit for that environment appears in that other language. This applies to the following components:

  • Names of supplied views, reports, analyses, alerts, entry layouts and other metadefinitions
  • Supplied texts in code tables

Article descriptions and wage components

If you are using Profit Order management or Profit Payroll, you can create reports in Dutch and also give your international contacts the option to print the reports in their own language. You can use this to make your invoices or pay slips language-specific and thus customer-specific. To this end, you add your own translations to various Profit parts, such as articles or wage components.

Procedure

  • Make a user language available

You purchase an extra user language and import your new licence. After this, your users can select this language via the Start menu.

  • Basic language conversion

You purchase a basic language and import your new licence. After this, you can add a new environment in the new basic language, or convert your existing environment.

  • Translate the description of an article and wage component

In Profityou can translate descriptions of items (articles, etc.), routes, units and locations, etc. into multiple languages. The language setting in the properties of the sales contact or purchase contact ensures that the item is displayed and printed in the correct language.
