Install the Profit Communication Center on Terminal Server

An administrator can install the Profit Communication Center (PCC) on a Terminal Server, which allows all users to use the PCC via the Terminal Server. In that case, users do not have to install the PCC. Every user does have to log in to the Terminal Server and download the personal settings file and run it.

Upgrade to Update 6

In case of a new Profit Update, you must reinstall the PCC. It is not required to first uninstall the old PCC (corresponding to the previous Update).

The administrator installs the PCC on the terminal server. The user settings of the old installation are automatically copied and the users do not have to relink the environment(s).

Note:

The administrator does not have to adjust the Profit configuration.

If you are using AFAS Online, wait until your environments have been converted to Update 8. Once this has been done, all users install the PCC (see the method below).

If you are using a local installation, first install Update 8 and convert the environments. After the conversion, every user installs the PCC.

Installation on a terminal server by the administrator:

  1. Log on to the terminal server.
  2. Go to:General / User / Communication Center / Save installation.
  3. Run the installation file PccSetup (for all users).
  4. Make sure that the PCC is started automatically if a user logs on to the terminal server.
New installation for the administrator and users

Use this procedure if the PCC has not yet been installed on the terminal server.

The administrator installs the PCC. Each user has to download and install the own settings.

Installation per user:

  1. The user logs on to the terminal server.
  2. Open the environment you want to use in combination with the PCC.
  3. Go to:General / User / Communication Center / Save settings.
  4. Save the file.

Shortcut per user

If a user logs on to the terminal server, the Profit Communication Center is started automatically. If you do not want this to happen, you create a shortcut per user.

To create a shortcut per user:

  1. Log on to the terminal server as the administrator.
  2. Open the folder:

    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

  3. Delete the shortcut to the Profit Communication Center. This means the Profit Communication Center is no longer started automatically for every user.
  4. For every user that does need the Profit Communication Center to start automatically, you include a shortcut in the following folder:

    C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

This shortcut should refer to the following file:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\AFAS Software\Profit Communication Center\Profit communication center.exe

  1. Profit Communication Center installation procedure for an administrator
  2. Firewall settings for Profit Communication Center (proxy in combination with AFAS Online)
