Import a campaign selection

Import an analysis with contacts as campaign selection. You can create an analysis, for example in Excel using Profit data, which results in a list of contacts (.csv file). You then import this list of contacts ('Contact' is the only field available for the import).

The advantage of this method over the use of general selections is that the latter can only be based on Contacts, allowing you only to filter on organisation and person fields. An import such as this can also be based on, for example, data of debtors like 'has recently bought this article'.  

By using an analysis and importing it as a campaign selection, you can also filter negatively.

To import a campaign selection from a (.csv) file:

  1. Create an analysis using your own criteria that results in a list of contacts.
  2. Go to: CRM / Campaign management / Campaign.
  3. Open the properties of the campaign.
  4. Open the properties of the campaign action.
  5. Click on: Actions (F8) and select Import contacts.
  6. Click on: Next.
  7. Follow the other steps of the import wizard, except the fifth window, where you specify for each field what should be done to it during the import. There you link the Contactnummerveld from the .csv file to the Contact field.

    Comments on the fields:

    • Campaign:

      The number of the campaign. Usually you will use the number of the current campaign as a fixed value in the import. If you supply the campaign number in the .csv file, you can import selections for multiple campaigns and campaign actions at the same time.

    • Sequence number:

      The sequence number of the campaign action within the campaign. Usually you will use the number of the current campaign action as a fixed value in the import. If you supply the sequence number in the .csv file, you can import selections for multiple campaigns and campaign actions at the same time.

    • Contact code:

      The unique code of the contact. Before importing the file, make sure there are no duplicate contact codes, to avoid the same contact getting the same mailing multiple times.

    • Linked:

      By default, you import this field with the fixed value J. For a selection you can exclude contacts by specifying the N value in this field. You can also arrange for this on the Contacts tab of the view (both for a campaign and a campaign action) by deselecting the check box in the Linked column.
