View operations overviews by period

You can view an operations overview with totals by period. Profit shows this in columns alongside one another.

Example:

In the first 6 months of the calendar year, a budget is made for the costs. This budget represents the actual situation. According to projections, costs will increase over the subsequent period(s) by 10%. If you enter a closing estimate percentage in the period budgets, you create a projected reality for the costs over the upcoming period(s). The advantage of closing estimates is that you can put the actual costs, the projected actual costs and the budget alongside one another and compare them. In Profit, you can compare this data with the same period(s) in preceding year(s).

To view operations overviews by period:

  1. Go to: Financial / Ledger / Overview / Operations per period.
  2. Select the financial years and periods that you want to compare.
  3. Select the Estimate check box if you want to estimate specific periods.

In that case, also enter the period.

In the Estimate from period field, indicate the period from which you want to make closing estimates. Starting from the set period, the period budgets will be settled with the indicated closing estimate percentage in the period budgets.

  4. Complete the remaining fields.

You can use the level totals to total up groups of ledger accounts.

  5. Select the Show changed budget check box if you want to show the original and adjusted budget. The Budget line shows the adjusted budget, if known, for each period. If the period does not have an adjusted budget, then this line shows the original budget.
  6. Select the Show difference check box if you want Profit to show two difference lines: one with the difference between the operations and the original budget and one with the difference between the operations and the adjusted budget. The difference lines are always based on the amount in the Operations line.
  7. Select the Show index check box if you want to show an index (percentage). It is calculated as follows:

Divide the difference between realisation and budget by the budget. The result is then multiplied by 100.

  8. Click on: Finish.

Profit displays a view with the operations overview:

    • The Operations line displays the realisation. If you have estimated, this line displays the estimated amount.
