Assembly preparation

For the assembling, you first add an Production order as a kind of internal purchase order in which you record which assembled item is assembled and which parts are required.

Description

Use Production order to check whether or not there are enough parts in stock before you start to assemble. When assembling is complete, you finalise the preparation by turning it into an Production.

If you do the assembling yourself, there are three ways that you can replenish the stock of the 'assembly' assembled item using an assembly preparation.

With an assembly proposal you can set whether or not you want to split it per assembled item.

If you never assemble the assembled item yourself, you can automatically purchase it using the order proposal.

Preparation

  • Set up an assembly proposal

For the assembly proposal you can choose whether or not to split it. Splitting an assembly proposal means that Profit splits the proposal into multiple assembly preparations per assembled item, thus one assembly preparation for each assembled item. If you do not split the proposal, Profit includes all the assembled items that need assembling in one assembly preparation.

Procedure

  • Add an assembly preparation manually

For the assembling, you first add an Production order as a kind of internal purchase order in which you record which assembled item is assembled and which parts are required. After the assembly process has been completed, the order is finalised using an Production. You use the Production order if you want to check whether you have enough parts in stock before you start the assembly.

  • Create an assembly preparation using an assembly proposal

If you carry out the assembly yourself, you can automatically generate an assembly preparation as soon as a stock shortage for the assembled items occurs.

  • Assembly alternates between purchasing with the order proposal and assembling with the assembly proposal

You can specify that sometimes you want to do the assembling yourself and sometimes you want to purchase it. When a stock shortage occurs, you have to decide if you are going to assemble yourself or purchase. Based on the sales order, you then generate an order proposal or an assembly proposal. For example, if you are in a hurry, you can choose to purchase via the order proposal. However, if the costs are lower when you do the assembling yourself, you are probably more likely to choose the assembly proposal.
