Add returnable packaging

You add a returnable packaging as a packaging article (article with the Packaging indication) and select the check box to indicate that it is returnable packaging and enter the packaging deposit.

Note:

For a packaging article, Profit assumes that no VAT has to be calculated. If you do want to charge VAT on the packaging, you sell the article in the normal way so that the turnover amount (the VAT calculation basis) is also calculated.

To add returnable packaging:

Go to: Order Management / Item / Article.
Click on: New.
Enter an Item code and a Description.
Select the Changeable description check box if, for example, you still want to be able to change the description when adding an order.
Select the Article group to which this returnable packaging belongs.
If applicable, you can select the Track stock check box to use the entire stock functionality for prices, stock value, stock reservations, etc. For the returnable packaging, you can maintain a packaging administration to track what a customer has. This returnable packaging administration only gives an indication.
Select the Basic unit for the returnable packaging.
In VAT rate group, select Nil.
If you do want to calculate VAT on the packaging, you sell the returnable packaging article in the regular way, so Profit also calculates the turnover amount.
Click on: Next.
Select Packaging in Sub-article type.
Click repeatedly on: Next. Do this until the Packaging settings window appears.
Select the Use in order process check box.
This means that Profit will add a line to the Packaging table for every article in the order line to which a packaging article is linked.
Select the Packaging check box.
Select the Track administration check box to track the current location of the returnable packaging. This is particularly important for expensive returnable packaging articles where the supplier wants to know which customers have these items in their possession.
Select the Serial number administration check box if you want to administrate serial number articles. This can only be done if the Track administration check box has also been selected.
Complete the packaging deposit fields. Since the price will not change often, it is not be recorded as a date-dependent price in the basic currency.
Note:

So this is not the sales price if you sell the packing yourself but the packaging deposit that is charged.
Click on: Finish.
Link the returnable packaging article to a normal article.
