Configure the URL redirection for OutSite

In case of redirection, a specific URL automatically redirects the visitor to another page. If a visitor to a website opens the URL, automatically a different page is opened. The use of redirections is not mandatory, but it can increase the ease of use and accessibility of your site.

You can use a URL redirection in the following situations:

• You want to automatically redirect visitors from a page that doesn't exist or no longer exists to a page that does exist.

  If you change the URL of a page, the original URL no longer exists. If the URL has a high ranking in search engines, or if you have passed on the URL to third parties, you will still want to use the original URL.

• You want to use a short, user-friendly URL to redirect visitors to another URL.

You can only add a redirection within the same site, for example from www.enyoi.nl/companyprofile to www.enyoi.nl/about. For example a redirection from www.enyoi.nl/companyprofile to www.moreyoi.nl/about is not possible.

If you have multiple sites, you should add the correct redirections to each site.

To configure a URL redirection for OutSite:

1. The page you want to redirect to must already exist.
2. Go to: General / In & OutSite / Site.
3. Open the properties of the site you want to configure a redirection for.
4. Go to the tab: URL redirection.
5. Click on: New.
6. Select the type in Reason for redirection.
   • Have a non-working URL open a page on the site

     For example, you can have the URL of an outdated or expired page redirect visitors to a new page. When opening the new page, the URL of the new page is used.

   Example:

   The www.enyoi.nl/companyprofile page no longer exists; visitors receive a 'page not found' message.

   You add a redirection from www.enyoi.nl/companyprofile to www.enyoi.nl/about.

   A visitor who opens the www.enyoi.nl/companyprofile page, is automatically redirected to www.enyoi.nl/about. In the browser, www.enyoi.nl/about is displayed as the URL.

   • Give a page a more friendly URL on the site

     You have a friendly URL redirect visitors to a different page, but the name of the friendly URL is used in the browser.

   Example:

   You use the user-friendly www.enyoi.nl/products URL to redirect visitors to www.enyoi.nl/catalogue/portfolio/products.

   When a visitor opens the www.enyoi.nl/products URL, the www.enyoi.nl/catalogue/portfolio/products page is displayed with the www.enyoi.nl/products URL.

7. Enter the page name in URL part to be redirected. Here you only have to enter the part after the name of the site. Check the URL in Full URL.
8. Select the page to which you want to redirect the user.
9. If necessary, add an explanation for internal use.
10. Click on: Finish.
11. Publish the site again for your changes to take effect.
