Retrieve a packing slip on the barcode scanner

From the scanner, you can request a packing slip. The first eligible packing slip is sent via the connector to the barcode scanner if one or more packing slips have been prepared.

Example: To retrieve a packing slip:

Five packing slips are prepared for the scanner. When retrieving the packing slips, a check is first made on the picker and then on the priority:

Picker Eduard Douma is logged onto the barcode scanner. Based on the priority, he must complete the packing slip with priority 01.

Picker Cas de Graaf is logged onto the barcode scanner. Based on the value in the field Picker, he must process the packing slip with priority 6.

Only active, not already reported and unblocked packing slips can be prepared for scanning.

The packing slip lines in the file are sorted on the warehouse location's running order number. If the running order number is the same then the sort is on location.

Note:

Packing slips that are open in Profit in the entry layout are not sent to the scanner! These packing slips can, after all, still be changed.

To determine the packing slip / packing slip lines:

The following method is used to determine which packing slip must be sent to the barcode scanner:

  1. The packing slips with the status Pick priority are sorted where by the packing slip with the highest priority is on top. For this packing slip, at least one line must not yet be picked.
  2. After this, a check is made to see if there is a packing slip available for the logged on user (with the status Prepared for scanning), thus where the field Picker contains his user code.
  3. Only packing slips / packing slip lines for the warehouse linked to the connector are considered. If no warehouse has been specified then all lines are sent to the barcode scanner.

    Example: barcode scanning with warehouses

The field Picker is not filled for packing slip 153655. This packing slip has ten lines. For four of the packing slip lines, the goods are in Magazijn Leusden. For the other six lines, the goods are in Magazijn Amersfoort.

Picker Eduard Douma performs a request with the scanner for Magazijn Leusden. He gets the four packing slip lines on the scanner for the goods stored in this warehouse. Eduard Douma picks these goods and the packing slip lines are reported back. The status of these packing slip lines now changes to Picked, the status of the packing slip itself in: Partly scanned.

In Magazijn Amersfoort, many pickers are present but only Cas de Graaf may complete these 6 packing slip lines because they are fragile, expensive goods.

Picker Ivo Bezemer logs on but does not get these packing slip lines.

Picker Cas de Graaf logs on and is presented with the remaining six packing slip lines on the scanner. He completes the packing slip. After this completion has been reported back, the status of these packing slip lines changes to Picked, the status of the packing slip itself in: Fully scanned.

Depending on the set up, the packing slip is now immediately reported as ready.

    Note:

Op the barcode scanner, you can specify if you want to use warehouse numbers or not. In Profit, warehouses are seen as buildings with a specific location. It may be the case that you have a large space that you have divided into sections / warehouses. If you employees may pick goods from all sections then you do not need to work with warehouses.

You set this up by selecting/deselecting the Magazijn publicatie aan/uit check box. You must arrange this with Actemium.

  4. Only packing slips that are prepared for scanning or partially scanned packing slips are sent to the scanner.

Blocked packing slips are not forwarded to the scanner.

Note:

Packing slips that are sent to the scanner are blocked. You can remove this block using General / Configuration / Blocks / Data (user) , Logistieke traject.

Schematically, this is as follows:

Next, you can complete the packing slip on the scanner after which it - together with the quantities you entered - is sent back to Profit.
