Configuring the barcode scanner

You can speed up a number of processes in Profit using barcode scanners. You have to configure this first.

Note:

This functionality currently only works with scanners of Actemium, an AFAS partner.

If you want to use the barcode scanner functionality, you need to have a licence for at least Profit Logistics and Profit Connector.

Description

By using the barcode scanner, you save yourself a great deal of cumbersome and labour-intensive manual work (printing, typing, copying to Profit) which is involved in processing articles in the purchase and sales processes.

If your articles have barcode labels, you can use a barcode scanner to speed up the following processes:

  • Process goods receipts
  • Complete packing slips
  • Enter, write off and transfer stock
  • Stocktaking

You must authorise and configure these functions.

Note:

As yet the scanner does not work in combination with dimension articles, batch entry articles and 'length x width' articles.

Procedure

Also see

  • Add barcodes to articles

The articles that you scan using the barcode scanner must have a barcode. You can manually add the barcode per article or import barcodes in bulk using an Article import.

  • Process incoming goods (barcode scanner)

You can also register incoming goods using a barcode scanner and convert them to goods receipts in Profit.

  • Prepare packing slips for scanning

You can use the barcode scanner to pick packing slips. The scanner software directs the warehouse employee and the employee himself does not have to make any choices. Profit determines which packing slip needs to be processed and which articles need to be picked. The user cannot change this on the barcode scanner.

  • Enter stock entries using the barcode scanner

Using the barcode scanner you can enter, write off and transfer goods. You can start these actions on the barcode scanner yourself, no action from Profit is required.

  • Stocktaking using a barcode scanner

You can do stocktaking with a barcode scanner instead of entering the quantities on the printout manually.
