Default InSite installation using the installation program
You can use a wizard to add and configure the web server for InSite. You must run this wizard on every server that will function as a web server. This solution suffices in most situations, which means you no longer need to configure the web server manually.
You can use the installation program in the following situations:
- Web server on the server on which Profit is installed (recommended)
You also use the Profit application server as a web server for InSite, or you have multiple Profit application servers on which you host web servers.
- Separate web server, on which Profit has not been installed.
The web server runs on a machine other than the Profit application server. You use this setup, for instance, if you are expecting a lot of traffic, or in cases of high security demands (such as a DMZ).
Most organisations can run the installation with the wizard described here. You must implement complex installations manually.
Once you complete the installation program, the following items will be configured on the server and in the Central Log-on Environment (CLE) in Profit:
- A web server is added, or the existing web server is updated.
- A domain is added, or the existing domain is updated.
- A virtual path is added, if it has been specified.
- A publication folder is added. This is the folder in which the website is placed once you generate it.
- IIS is configured.
