Set the article dimensions for an article

In addition to the levels at which you can track stock for an article, you can also track stock based on article dimensions that you add yourself. For example, you want to be able to display the stock of computers per colour and/or memory size.

You can track up to two dimensions of the stock of an article (a computer). You can specify for an article whether you want to link one or two dimensions and which dimensions to link. Naturally these must be articles for which you track the stock.

To add a new article with article dimensions:

1. Go to: Order Management / Item / Article.
2. Click on: New. 
3. Complete the fields.
4. In Article group, select a group for which stock can be tracked.
5. Select the Track stock check box. After all, you want to consult the stock for the dimension.
6. Complete the remaining fields.
7. Click on: Next. 
8. In Article type, select whether you want to track stock on one or two dimensions types. Two is the maximum. So for 1 item dimension enter one dimension below, and for 2 item dimensions enter two. These fields then be set.
9. Select Normal article in Sub-article type.
10. For the fields with article dimensions, select the dimensions by which you wish to track the stock of this article. For example Model and Colour:

    Note: 

    The price/discount for Article dimension 1 has priority over the price/discount for Article dimension 2. If two article dimensions are used, select the most important format for Article dimension 1.

11. Complete the 'New article' wizard.

To change an existing article for setting the dimensions:

In order to track article dimensions for an existing article you will have to change the article type. However, you can only change the article type if no stock entries have been recorded for the article. Once an entry has been booked for the article, this field can no longer be changed and you have to add a new article.

1. Go to: Order Management / Item / Article.
2. Open the properties of the article.
3. Go to the tab: General.
4. In Article group, select a group for which holding stock is enabled.
5. Select the Track stock check box.
6. Go to the tab: Stock/article type.
7. In Article type, select whether you want to track stock on one or two dimensions types. Two is the maximum. So for 1 item dimension enter one dimension below, and for 2 item dimensions enter two. These fields then be set. (You can only change the article type if no stock entries have been recorded for the article.)
8. In Article dimension 1 and Article dimension 2 select the dimensions for which you wish to track stock.

   Note: 

   The price/discount for Article dimension 1 has priority over the price/discount for Article dimension 2. If two article dimensions are used, select the most important format for Article dimension 1.

9. Click on: OK. 

The next step is to add the article dimension fields to the entry layouts used for stock.
