Add a site

You add a new site based on an existing site.

Pages and processes are not copied. Instead, they are shared. This means that the new menu items must refer to existing descriptions and templates. If a page only contains text (CMS) and you change the page on the site, you can specify yourself if a copy of the page must be made so that the page is not changed on the other sites. The theme is not copied. The full menu structure is however copied to the new site.

Each site has its own layout. When a new layout is added, the layout of the source site is linked to the new site. Templates are site independent and are not copied.

To add a site:

  1. Go to: General / In & OutSite / Site.
  2. Click on: New.
  3. Select the site on which you want to base your new site. In the Portal type column, you can see whether the site is an InSite site or an OutSite site.
  4. Click on: Next.
  5. Enter the description.
  6. Click on: Next.
  7. Enter the Title of the site.

This title will appear in the browser when you access the site. If necessary, you can also enter a header title.

  8. Complete the fields.
  9. Click on: Next.
  10. Select the Web location.

By selecting a web location, you determine which URL is used to access the site and the web servers on which the site is published. In other words, you use this field to link the configuration (domain/web server, etc) to the site. After linking the web location, it takes at most 1 hour for the site to become available. If the site is still not available after 1 hour, contact Support.

    Note:

If you do not complete this field, your site will not be published. For a new site, this means that visitors see nothing if they enter the URL. For an existing site, it means that changes are no longer implemented. Thus you must always enter a web location if you want your website to be accessible via a browser.

If you cannot select a web server, you have not yet imported the file from AFAS Online into the properties of the domain. First click on 'Complete' and then import the .aol file. Next, select the Web location in the properties of the site.

  11. If applicable, select the Publish website as 'under construction' check box.

If a visitor logs on to your site now, the message that the site is under construction is displayed.

  12. Click on: Finish.

After the addition of the web location, the virtual path is available.
