Allocate an extra unit to an article

You can assign an extra unit to an article that you can also select in the entry layouts for purchase and sales.

To allocate an extra unit to an article for sales/purchase:

  1. Go to:Order Management / Item / Article.
  2. Open the properties of the article..
  3. Go to the tab: Units per item.

    The basic unit of this article is Stuks, as you can see on the line in which the Bas.unit check box is selected.

  4. Click on: New.
  5. In Unit, select the extra unit that you want to assign.
  6. Select the Show stock check box.

    Besides the stock in the basic unit, Profit now also shows the stock in this unit. This is called the Virtual stock.

    One of the places where you can view the virtual stock is on the Stock overview tab in the article properties. The virtual stock is in fact a conversion of the stock in the basic unit to the stock in the alternative, extra unit.

  7. Enter the quantity in Number per unit.
  8. Click on: Next.
  9. Enter a value in Minimum sales quantity.
  10. Complete the wizard.

In addition to the basic unit you can now select this extra unit in the Unit field in the entry layout.

Virtual stock

The stock shown in the extra unit is called the Virtual stock. You can view both the actual stock and the virtual stock in the extra unit in the properties of the article.

To view the virtual stock:

  1. Go to: Order Management / Item / Article.
  2. Open the properties of the article..
  3. Go to the tab: Stock overview.

You now see both the actual stock, in number of items, and the virtual stock, which is the stock converted to the extra unit.
