Block a period in the period table

You can block periods in the period table (except the period table for Fixed Assets and Logistics) so that no more entries can be posted to them. If you have to do so later, you can always unblock a blocked period again.

The active financial period table is on the General tab in Financial / Management / Settings.

Profit uses the period table for all administrations in your environment. If you block a period in the period table itself, it is blocked for the entire environment and all associated administrations. If you have multiple administrations, you can also block a period at the administration level or at the journal level within the administration.

Three methods can be used to block a period in the financial period table:

  1. When maintaining the period table itself, if you want to block a period for the entire environment.
  2. In the administration settings, if you want to block a period for the administration.
  3. In the journal properties, if you want to block a period for a specific journal within the administration.

A check is performed to see whether a period is blocked in the administration settings. The check is performed for manual entries, imports and running UpdateConnectors. This check prevents you from entering or importing entries in a period that has been blocked for an administration.
