Add a virtual path (local web server, multiple application servers)

You can use a virtual path to record how the site can be accessed. In addition to hosting a site on the actual web domain, a site can also be hosted on a virtual path.

Example:

You can host our sample site insite.enyoi.nl on the web server in the root. You can access the site by web server name, for example https://servername.enyoi.nl.

If you are using a virtual path (e.g. intranet) then the example is https://servername.enyoi.nl/intranet.

Note:

For hosting without a subfolder you also need to add a virtual path. In this case leave the path empty in the properties of the virtual path.

You add a virtual path to an existing domain.

To add a virtual path:

  1. Log in to the central log-on environment. The function below is only available in this environment.
  2. Go to: General / In & OutSite / Configuration / Domain.
  3. Open the properties of the domain.
  4. Go to the tab: Virtual paths.
  5. Click on: New.

You now see the domain and the internet address where is it available.

  6. Enter a value in Virtual Path.

    Note:

If you want to host the website on the root, then leave this field empty.

    Ins_Virt

Behind the Accessible via URL field you see the full path where the site can be reached.

  7. Select the login method in Authentication method.

If you are using application authentication for Profit Windows, you can only select Profit (Enter Profit username/password). Users must log on using their Profit user name and password. Using this method, a user can log on with his/her e-mail address on condition that the e-mail address is recorded for the user in General / Management / Authorisation tool.

If you are using Windows authentication for Profit Windows, both methods are available.

    • Windows (integrated)

A user is logged on automatically when launching InSite.

    • Windows (Enter Windows username/password)

Users must log on using their Windows user name and password.

  8. Click on: Next.
  9. Select the communication type:Connection with the Profit Application server on the actual web server.
  10. Click on: Next.
  11. Click on: Finish.
