Convert an environment

If you have installed a new update or Build of Profit, you must convert existing environments. You must also convert an environment if you have activated certain functionality in the environment. Conversion may also be required if you start using a licence with a different composition.

Description

Converting an environment can take quite a while. Among other things, this depends on:

• The number of environments being converted.
• The size of the environments.
• The conversion type. The conversion to a new Build usually takes longer than, for example, a conversion after activating new functionality.

  Note: 

  Carry out the conversion if Profit is not being used, for example, at night or during the weekend.

There are several options for converting an environment after installing new software:

• Automatic conversion when opening an environment (if a conversion is necessary)
• Always ask if the environment must be converted now (if a conversion is necessary)
• Manual conversion

For the automatic conversion and when asked to convert, only the specific environment is converted. If you choose one of these settings, it may happen that a regular user is confronted with the conversion. If you want to prevent this, you can convert several/all environments via manual conversion.

Procedure

• Change the conversion settings

  The Profit administrator determines whether a conversion is started automatically if conversion is necessary.

• Manually convert environments

  The administrator can manually convert multiple environments simultaneously. This allows the administrator to perform the conversion at a suitable time, without causing a nuisance for other users.

• Automatic conversion for new Build or Update

  The conversion is performed automatically if you have set this.
