Change the SEPA collection method of an existing debtor from Standard to B2B
You can change the SEPA collection method for an existing debtor from whom you already collect on a recurring basis from Default to B2b. B2b is a collection method for which the debtor has no reversal right and for which the debtor for the collection must always be a business.
You cannot migrate/reuse existing Dutch mandates to/as B2B because the rights/conditions for the debtor change. The collector must always get a new mandate, a so-called ‘Recurrent business mandate SEPA (B2B)'.
To prevent misuse, (a copy of) this business mandate must be registered by the debtor at the debit bank (the debtor’s bank). For each business collection transaction, the debit bank checks if a valid mandate is present and, if not, it will not perform the collection transaction. The bank, however, cannot check if the amount debited is correct.
Profit only supports B2B in combination with recurring collections and not with one-off collections.
For more information about the difference between the standard (core) and the business (B2B) European collection, please refer to the website SEPA.nl.
To change the SEPA collection method of a debtor from Standard to B2B:
- Go to: Financial / Debtor / Debtor.
- Open the properties of the debtor.
- Go to the tab:Bank account.
Check that the debtor bank account number you want to use for collection has been recorded. For SEPA collections, this must be an IBAN number.
If the registration/city of the bank account number differs from the registration/city of the creditor, record this in the bank account number properties.
- Go to the tab: Payment.
- Check if the preferred bank account number from which you want to collect amounts is recorded in Bank account.
- Check if the Automatically collect check box is selected and the One-off direct debit mandate required check box is deselected.
- Select B2b for SEPA collection method if a ‘business’ collection method applies for this debtor.
- Click on: OK.
- Send the B2B mandate form (Continuous business mandate) to this debtor.
- Enter the date of the B2B mandate in Debit mandate date as soon as you receive it.
- After this, check if the status of the old mandate is Expired.
When activating a (new) mandate, Profit automatically changes the status of the old mandate to Expired.
Change the collection method for a debtor from B2B to Default
You can also change the SEPA collection method for an existing debtor from whom you are already collecting the other way around, from B2b to Default.
You perform the same steps as described above, but in step 6 you can choose to select the One-off direct debit mandate required check box or leave it deselected and in step 7 you select Default in SEPA collection method and then send the mandate form to the debtor.
