Add an organisational unit
You configure the organisation chart by adding organisational units and placing them in the correct location in the organisation chart. An organisation chart in Profit can have up to 10 layers.
Link every organisational unit to an organisational unit type. The organisational unit type contains the layer of the organisation chart: A low number means that the linked organisational units are high in the hierarchy.
You should place one organisational unit on layer 0 (more is not allowed). This is, for example, a holding. Below an organisational unit you can only place another organisational unit with a higher number (=lower in the hierarchy).
You can import organisational units by selecting HR / Management / Import HRM / Organisational unit.
Note:
You cannot change the code of an organisational unit. If you want to use a new code for an organisational unit, you can add a new organisational unit to the organisation chart and link the employees to the new organisational unit. You can then drag the organisational unit with the wrong code from the organisation chart.
To configure an organisation chart:
- Go to: HR / Organisation / Organisation chart.
- Open the properties of the organisation chart structure.
- Click on: if this button is not active.
- Click on: .
- Enter the code and a description of the organisational unit.
- Select the organisational unit type, which determines the layer the new organisational unit will belong to.
- Using Staff you indicate this is a staff department, which hierarchically has a deviating position.
- Select the Contains employees check box if you want to link employees to the organisational unit. If the organisational unit's only purpose is to lay out the organisation chart, do not select this check box.
- Select the Report to parent OU check box if you want to merge two units for reporting purposes. This may be necessary if you have managers in separate layers and you want to be able to present managers and their departments as one department in the reporting.
- Select the organisational unit of the manager in Org. unit reporting. Profit merges the opened organisational unit and the unit of the manager in the reports. You must change the reports for this. Replace the Organisational unit field with the merged organisational unit.
- Enter a shortcut to the published cockpits in Cockpit 1. The employee sees the shortcut in the position allocation under My personal data in InSite. The employee can open the published cockpit using the shortcut. If you use multiple position allocation lines for employees, you can specify a shortcut for up to five cockpits.
- Click on: Finish.
Profit shows the new organisational unit in the box on the right. This box lists the organisational units that have not been added to the organisation chart yet.
- Drag the organisational unit to the box on the left and place it in the tree structure.
