Enter the duration in a field (hours/minutes or decimals)

Profit HR allows you to record the duration of leave and absence entries in hours and minutes or in decimals. This mode of entry depends on your environment settings.

Profit always records the duration in hours and minutes. Input in decimals is converted to hours and minutes. The conversion and rounding may cause a rounding difference that leads to a change in the input value. For example, if you enter the value 0.01, Profit will immediately convert it to 1 minute. 1 minute is converted to 0.02, so the value 0.02 is displayed.

When importing data it could happen that you need to enter missing data (this depends on the structure of the import definition). This means that Profit does not import or convert the value, but that you need to enter it manually. The above rules also apply when completing a duration field.

Enter the duration in a field:

If Profit shows a colon (:) in the field, then enter the time in hours and minutes.

If the input field is empty, you can choose from the following options:

  • Enter hours and minutes (format hh:mm).
  • Enter hours and hundredths (format hh.hh).

    Example:

You want to enter half an hour of leave:

  • For the hours:minutes format enter 0:30.
  • For the hundredths format enter 0.5.
