Enter gifts

You can register donations as such using a bank journal. Profit enters a donation as an advance payment and then directly writes it off again. In this way you can enter donations quickly without the need to reconcile them separately.

Note:

You can only enter payments as gifts if you have configured the charitable settings (gifts) in Profit.

To enter gifts:

  1. Go to: Financial / Enter / Journal.
  2. Check Financial year and Period. These are the financial year and the period to which you post the entry.
  3. Select the journal.
  4. Click on: Finish.
  5. Enter the closing balance from the bank statement in Check balance journal. Profit displays the Journal opening balance of the journal at the bottom of the entry window.
  6. Enter the date of the statement line in the Date entry field.
  7. Select the debtor in Account.

If the debtor is not known in Profit, you can add it directly using the New sales contact action. If this action is not available then you are not authorised to add debtors.

  8. Enter the amount of the gift in Amount credit.

Profit automatically enters the payment as a gift, because for a gift there is no corresponding outstanding debtor invoice to reconcile the entry with.

  9. Click on: Finish.
