Change the master file for a custom contact file

You can change the master file to which a custom contact file is linked.

Note:

A custom contact file can be visible in one or more tabs for maintenance functions for organisations, persons, sales contacts, employees, etc. If you change this setting (if you deselect the Visible with check box somewhere and select it somewhere else), it can happen that the existing data is no longer accessible.

If a custom tab is linked to a maintenance function, the administrator cannot move this tab. The end user can, however, change the order of the tabs.

Example:

A custom contact file is only visible for employees and data has been entered. In this case, the settings are used to indicate that the file is only visible for sales contacts. The data entered previously is then only visible if a sales contact also happens to be an employee.

To change the master file for a custom contact file:

  1. Go to: General / Environment / Management / Properties.
  2. Go to the tab: Custom contact files.
  3. Open the Properties of the custom contact file.
  4. Go to the tab: Visible with.
  5. Select the Visible check box for the master files you require. (You should preferably not deselect any of the check boxes if you have been using the custom contact file for a while and information has therefore been saved. See the comment above.)
  6. Click on: OK.
