To check the minimum wage: Employee gets less than the minimum wage

If an employee receives a salary that is less than the minimum wage, Profit blocks the salary processing for this employee with the alert: Employee gets less than the minimum wage.

In the Profit CLA and Basic CAO the following wage components are present for this purpose:

  • 100.009.520 'Signaal minimumlooncontrole'

    Note:

Each wage component has a comment in which the operation of the wage component is explained. Always take a look at this explanation on the Comment tab in the properties of the wage component in the CLA. If you do not have the wage component available, first activate it.

The wage component 100.009.520 'Signaal minimumlooncontrole' checks if the salary of the employee is above the minimum wage. If not then Profit blocks the salary processing and reports this in the salary processing cockpit.

It some situations, it is allowed to pay less than the minimum wage. In that case, you can switch off the calculation at the employee level.

If you use the hourly wage from the previous period, Profit compares the minimum wage from this previous period.

Furthermore, it is possible to specify a margin using the 'Marge' parameter. Because of rounding differences, for example, in your own payroll configuration, Profit can mistakenly produce an alert. The use of a margin prevents this. The wage component compares the calculation basis 'Salaris t.b.v. minimumlooncontrole' with the minimum wage, applying a part-time percentage to the minimum wage after which the margin is deducted.

Example:

The salary for the minimum wage check is: 1027.32

In this example, the minimum wage is: 1417.00

The part-time percentage is 72.50

Margin: 0.02

The corrected minimum wage without the margin is (1417 x 72.50%) = 1027.325, rounded to 1027.33.

As a consequence, Profit blocks the wage calculation. If the margin is used, the corrected minimum wage is 1027.33 - 0.02 = 1027.31 which means that processing is not blocked as a result of the minimum wage check.
